Anti-Trafficking Youth Ambassadors

About the Youth Ambassadors

The Anti-Trafficking Youth Ambassador program is a short-term youth outreach and prevention program funded by the Ohio Children's Trust Fund and the Ohio Human Trafficking Task Force. Together with our partner agencies, Asian Services In Action, Inc. (Cleveland/Akron) and Asian Community Alliance (Cincinnati), we have recruited a total of 26 volunteer youth advocates to raise awareness on human-trafficking, particularly among API youth and the API community. Outreach efforts conducted by our youth play an important role in our anti-trafficking efforts because there is so much misinformation about human-trafficking and human-trafficking prevention.

Our first class of Youth Ambassadors in Columbus consist of 9 middle school to college-aged youth from the Central Ohio community who are committed to conducting outreach on human-trafficking prevention.

Outreach Efforts

Our Columbus team has conducted two events. The first event was a tabling event on OSU campus accompanied by a social media campaign (#AACSStandAgainst). Check out the pictures from the event on our Facebook page!

The team also produced a video skit on human-trafficking prevention that was played at our booth at the 2016 Asian Festival. The skit depicts a trafficker attempting to exploit the vulnerabilities of a young person who is in need of love, affection, and acceptance, but ends with the successful intervention of the youth's peer who spotted the warning signs. The skit is available for viewing here.
